2013 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Drag Racing a CLS63 AMG

Mat Watson of Auto Express wanted to find out how well the new Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG hatchback stacks up against a bigger and stronger AMG model. He puts it head to head against a CLS63 AMG for a quarter mile drag race. Can the smallest car AMG makes hold its own?
The A45 AMG features more brake horsepower per gallon than any other car today, and with a four-cylinder single turbo engine, it’s also the first AMG model with fewer than six cylinders. Equipped with all-wheel drive, this baby AMG seems like it won’t stand a chance against the heavier, more powerful, and more expensive CLS63 AMG.
So why should you care about some oddball European market Mercedes-Benz model? Because the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA class is basically the same car, albeit with cooler styling. And this little AMG manages to hold its own, which is rather impressive for a car that costs roughly $59,650 that is competing against one that costs around $130,290. See which AMG model comes out on top in the video below.
