Rolls-Royce disputes $100m recall reports
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is disputing claims in the Australian media that the company is recalling every Rolls-Royce vehicle sold in Australia in the last decade.
Australian media reported the luxury carmaker was recalling "almost every Rolls-Royce sold in Australia in the past 10 years" because of brake safety issues with some Ghost and Phantom models.
According to The Australian, the cars being recalled have a combined total of $100 million. The newspaper claimed 36 of the $645,000 Ghost models will have parts replaced, as well as 74 of the million-dollar Phantom model.
However, Rolls-Royce spokesperson Hal Serudin said it is working on the Ghost family of Rolls Royce vehicles worldwide, but only seven of them are in Australia.
Since October 2011, Rolls-Royce has conducted a precautionary campaign for the Phantom.
Each customer has been contacted personally since the precautionary campaigns began and the work on all affected cars is virtually complete, said Serudin.
