TOYOTA , THE BEST !!!!!!!

Toyota Reclaims Status as World's No. 1 Car maker ,

Toyota Motor has reclaimed its spot as the world's biggest carmaker based on record high production in the first quarter of this year.

The Japanese auto giant said its global production, including the Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino brands, stood at 2.71 million units in the first three months, a 35.6 percent increase on-year. Toyota broke its previous record of 2.54 million units set in the first quarter of 2008, just before it hit a downturn due to the global economic crisis.

Toyota's global sales for the quarter have not been reported yet, but are estimated to be around 2.5 million vehicles. In February, Toyota raised this year's sales target to 9.58 million units, up 21 percent from 2011.

Last year's No. 1, GM, sold 2.28 million units in the first quarter of this year, a 2.6 percent increase on-year. Although Volkswagen posted record sales of 2.16 million units during the same period, up 9.6 percent from a year earlier, it lagged far behind Toyota.

In March, Toyota produced 976,326 cars, 65.2 percent more than the same month last year. This includes 455,581 units at home, up 181 percent, and 520,745 units overseas, up 21 percent.

Toyota's resurgence comes after it changed its production and sales bases to focus on emerging markets and strengthened global promotions. This shows how the auto giant remains highly competitive despite a wave of trials and tribulations in recent times including mass recalls, the global economic recession, flooding in Thailand that waterlogged its plants, and the strong yen.

Meanwhile, GM ranked first in last year's global sales with 9.03 million units sold, followed by Volkswagen (8.16 million), Toyota (7.95 million), Renault-Nissan (7.39 million) and Hyundai-Kia (6.59 million).
